Divisibility Rule to check divisibility of a number with 2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10.



Many students try to find tricks and tips for math operations but the fact is there are no such tricks……yes….its 100% true. All tricks and tips are nothing but a different observation of same fact.
Divisibility Rule
  1. All even numbers are divisible by 2. E.g., all numbers ending in 0,2,4,6 or 8 i.e. just check divisibility with last digit if it is even or not.
  2. For example 26786 is divisible and 7897689 is not divisible by 2.   
Divisibility by 3  

  1. Sum of all digits of number should be divisible by 3.
  2. For example: 7897665 (7+8+9+7+6+6+5=48),now 48 is divisible by 3, therefore 7897665 is also divisible by 3.
Divisibility by 4 
  1. Number formed by last two digits should be divisible by 4.
  2. For example: 9342624 is divisible by 4 as last two digits are 24 and 24 is divisible by 4.  
Divisibility by 5 
  1. Numbers ending in with 5 or with 0 are always divisible by 5.
Divisibility by 6 
  1. If the Number is divisible by 2 and 3 it is divisible by 6 also.
Divisibility by 7   
  1. Take the last digit of number.
  2. Multiply with 2 and Subtract product from number formed by rest of the digits.
  3. Continue the process to achieve relatively smaller number i.e. repeat the process for larger numbers.
  4. Example: 364 (multiply 4 with and Subtract 8 from 36. We will get 28, which is divisible by 7 and we can now say that 364 is divisible by 7.
Divisibility by 8     
  1. Check for number formed by last three digits, if it is divisible by 8, so is the entire number.
  2. Example: 9856864 - The last 3 digits are divisible by 8, therefore, so is 9856864.
Divisibility by 9   
  1. Same as rule for 3 i.e. check if number is divisible by 3 or not.
  2. If number is divisible by 3 i.e. sum of digits is divisible by three, then it means number is also divisible by 9.
  3. For example: 8751 (8+7+5+1=21) 21 is divisible by 9, therefore 8751 is also divisible by 9.  
Divisibility by 10  
  1. If the number ends with a 0, it is divisible by 10.
